IAS Drupal 7 Sites Documentation

General Editor Info

Drupal is the name of the Content Management System (CMS) that powers the sites. Its purpose is to provide a system for you to be able to update and manage website content via a web interface rather than relying on coded, static pages that require a web developer to change. The CMS stores website content and settings in a database so content can be easily edited and delivered via the website’s front end “theme”.

Drupal is content management software. It’s used to make many of the websites and applications you use every day. Drupal has great standard features, like easy content authoring, reliable performance, and excellent security. But what sets it apart is its flexibility; modularity is one of its core principles. Its tools help you build the versatile, structured content that dynamic web experiences need.

As a site administrator, you will be able to log in and manage content and other elements of the website directly online, without requiring knowledge of HTML or the other programming languages that make up the website.

User Accounts

Each site has its own list of users who are allowed to log in. Ask the computing help desk to create an account for you on any site you need to edit. Arrange to have the appropriate permissions configured.

Logging In

Log in to any site at /user. So for example, you would log in to https://www.ias.edu at https://www.ias.edu/user.
