Managing Taxonomy
Taxonomy
is an important Drupal feature that is used to classify and organize content.
The taxonomy can be found under Structure > Taxonomy.
Managing Taxonomy Terms
Select “list terms” to see current terms in a given vocabulary. If
needed, new taxonomy terms can be added by selecting “add terms”
under the appropriate vocabulary item.
Publication Type Taxonomy
This feature is exclusive to www.ias.edu.
The Publication Type taxonomy functions in a different way than the
other taxonomy terms.
- Publication Type terms populate the Publications page
(https://www.ias.edu/publications) on the website.
- The Publication
content type has individual issues or editions of the Publication
Type terms created in the taxonomy.
- Ideas can be assigned to
nodes of the Publication content type.
Creating a Publication Type
- Enter a Name and Description.
- Upload a Featured Thumbnail.
- Select “Show Archive” to add an archives link to the publication
type.
- Any additional links, such as a downloadable PDF or current issue
articles, can be added in the Links ands Files section.
- Save.
Locations Taxonomy
This feature is exclusive to www.ias.edu.
Locations are taxonomy terms. On an event detail page only the
location name will appear. The location address must be manually entered on
the location taxonomy term in order to be displayed.
- Navigate to Structure > Taxonomy Manager > Locations.
- Select the location to be edited.
- Fill out the address information.
